The Story Behind Beth the Bakerr

Let's start from the beginning...

Yep, that's me. I've been baking since I was tall enough to stand on a chair!

When I was 13, my Gran gave me a cookbook for Christmas called "A Passion for Baking" by Marcy Goldman. She said it was a last-minute gift, but it completely changed the trajectory of my life. That book helped me realize I wanted to bake professionally, so when I turned 15 I got my first job at Gigi's Cupcakes. I mixed what felt like a million pounds of frosting on the weekends and got my first taste of kitchen life.

High School

I worked in restaurants throughout high school and was awarded Culinary Student of the Year in 2014.

Later, when I went to college at Texas State University, I only lasted one semester. I was miserable and completely unfulfilled at the thought of getting a business degree. I took a semester off, moved back home, and tried to figure out my life.

Culinary School

In 2015, I was accepted into one of the world's most prestigious culinary schools. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I was challenged, frustrated, fulfilled, and had a lot of fucking fun.

During the final year of the program, I was in school from 6am to 3pm every weekday. On Fridays, I drove from San Antonio to Austin to work two overnight shifts at a high-production bread bakery. When I tell you I was tired... I was driving home with the windows down blasting heavy metal just to keep my eyes open. It was awesome.

Graduation!

In 2017 I graduated with an Associate's degree in Baking & Pastry Arts from The Culinary Institute of America.

After graduation I moved to Austin and started working at the bread bakery full-time. Overnight shifts are not for the faint of heart, so I ended up switching jobs. During my year in Austin, I worked at a vegan food truck, a restaurant with a Michelin-starred chef, a French restaurant, and a cafe and brewery with a stellar pastry program.

To the Mountains

When the pastry chef at the cafe asked me if I wanted to help her open up a restaurant in the mountains of Colorado, I said “fuck yes.”

I was only supposed to stay there for a month before going back to Austin. Lucky for me, two weeks in I met the man who is now my husband.

I'm posting.. on TikTok??

After working as a professional pastry chef from 2017-2024, I realized I was no longer fulfilled by the career that had defined my entire life.

I started bitchin' about it on TikTok and realized I wasn't alone. Thousands of people were just as unhappy as I was, and now we're one big cookie bitchin' family!

Good Fuckin' Cookies

Beth the Bakerr was born from a need to stay in the baking world without working for someone else.

Each batch of cookies is made with quality ingredients and a healthy amount of attitude, just like Gran would've liked. She passed this year, but I will never forget the last-minute gift she gave me that changed my entire life.

I hope you enjoy your good fuckin' cookies, made with lots of love and only a hint of spite by me, Beth the Bakerr.
